Glass Popcorn (Will Neibergall) is perhaps the next phenomenon in the music world. Glass Popcorn isn't electronic, hip hop,  dubstep, house,  or electro. But, Glass Popcorn is the future. The 15-year-old-musician was disocvered last year and plucked from obscurity in Tempe, Arizona, from where had had been uploading tracks to internet forums. His lyrics consume and vomit out popular culture in a unique, self aware fashion very unusual for such a young talent. Says Popcorn, "I’m inspired by my ability to observe things about my generation that my peers don’t." Sounds good to us. ♥ The Boyfriend

The year was 1992. Most people had never heard of Puff Daddy or Jay-Z. Nicki Minaj was probably still in diapers. Hip hop was young and uncomplicated and Wreckx N Effect released their multi-platinum hit song, Rumpshaker. I discovered this song while I was still in middle school, fell in love and haven't stopped shaking my ass to it ever since.

Let's discuss. Aside from the song being completely addictive, this video is an inspiring, fantastic combination of unashamed whores, amazing, colorful outfits at the height of 1990s sportswear chic and a "fun day at the beach" in various formats. Looking back, the almost-naked, pulsating women in this video aren't disturbing (as many people found them at the time) but rather naive and even silly. A few lines of this masterpiece were even written by a young, unknown Pharell Williams. What you won't find in this hip-hop video: the obsession with over-the-top, in-your-face wealth that has somehow infected the rap world (cars, mansions, huge diamond chains, etc). If you look closely, you'll even find a legitimate rapper wearing pink Spandex (2:20) - that's why you can't help but love the 1990s. ♥ The Boyfriend

Sam and I saw Crystal Castles in concert in New York on March 18, 2011...it was the most amazing concert ever! The music was devastating, hypnotic, esoteric and just plain changed my life. Alice Glass, the group's vocalist, is by far my favorite Rock & Roll style icon. She looks like an angry hipster cross between Jen the Gelfling (The Dark Crystal), Morticia Adams and a Vidal Sassoon Model from the 1960s. Hardcore fabulous! ♥ The Boyfriend
