Caught in Fashion Event @ Galeria Krakowska

W sobotę 25 stycznia Boyfriend uczestniczył w małym modowym wydarzeniu zwanym Przyłapani na modzie. Wydarzenie miało miejsce w Galerii Krakowskiej a poprowadziła je dobrze znana modowa dziennikarka - Dorota Wróblewska, ktorej wydaje sie byc wcieleniem Anny Wintour (zawsze nosi okulary przeciwsłoneczne). Jury po zapoznaniu się z albumem ze zdjęciami modnie ubranych Krakowian, ktory powstawał przez cały 2013 rok, wybrali zwycięzców, którzy otrzymali nagrody pieniężne i statuetki "najciekawiej ubranego mężczyzny 2013" i "najciekawiej ubranej kobiety 2013". Wśród gości pojawili się najlepsi krakowscy blogerzy m.in Alicepoint, Kris Jamróz, Mr.Faceless oraz True2Me. ♥ Paweł Robuta dla Boyfriend

On Saturday, January 25th Boyfriend was invited to a small fashion event called Caught in Fashion, at the Galeria Krakowska mall in Krakow, Poland. Dorota Wróblewska, a well-known fashion journalist, who seems to think she is the Polish re-incarnation of Anna Wintour (sunglasses at night?!) lead the ceremony. After a month-long period of photographing passersby outside the shopping center, those chosen as the most "fashionable" were awarded cash prizes and plenty of attention at the mall-sponsored event. The jury and audience were made up of Krakow's best fashion bloggers, among them Alice Point, Kris Jamroz, Mr. Faceless, and True2Me. ♥ Paweł Robuta for Boyfriend

For the opening party of 2013, Cheesecake hosts BOYFRIEND the internet-based, underground men's fashion magazine. The connection between the colorful, unisex, nonchalant magazine and Cheesecake, the ultra-fashionable party that defines itself as "who-cares-about-gender-sexual", is an obvious one. At the event you'll see short films produced by BOYFRIEND, meet the magazine's founder, and receive a printed mini-magazine as well as free drinks and more surprises! Dana Friman will DJ and invite you to join her in a cocktail or two. The event begins at 22:00

Diana Vreeland: The Eye has to Travel @ Holon Fashion Week

Holon Fashion Week opens tonight, beginning a week of lectures, films and master classes hosting international industry icons like designer Damir Doma, former Vogue Italia editor Carla Sozzani and editor/muse to Muccia Prada, Shala Monroque.

Of all the exciting events, the Boyfriend can hardly wait for the Israeli premiere of the film Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel on Wednesday October 17 at 21:00. The documentary chronicles the life of the legendary "empress of fashion" who (long before Anna Wintour wore her first pair of heels) pulled the strings of the fashion industry as the editor of Harper's Bazaar and Vogue and as the head of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. During her 50-year career, Vreeland discovered models like Twiggy, advised Jacqueline Kennedy and revolutionized fashion journalism; The Eye Has To Travel, however, goes beneath the legend to reveal Vreeland's personal history and vulnerabilities. שבוע האופנה חולון נפתח הערב, ומביא לקהל הרחב שבוע של הרצאות, סרטים וכיתות אומן באירוח אייקונים של תעשיית האופנה הבינלאומית כמו המעצב דמיר דומה, עורכת ווג איטליה לשעבר קרלה סוצאני ועורכת המגזינים/מוזה של פראדה, שאלה מונרוק

מתוך כל האירועים המרגשים, המפתה ביותר לבויפרנד הוא הבכורה הישראלית של הסרט "דיאנה ורילנד: העין חייבת לנסוע" (תרגום יצירתי) ביום רביעי 17.11.2012 ב21:00. הסרט הדוקומנטרי מתעד את חייה של דיאנה ורילנד, "קיסרית האופנה" האגדית שמשכה בחוטים של תעשיית האופנה בתור העורכת הראשית של הארפר'ס בזאר וווג וכראש המכון לתלבושות של מוזיאון מטרופוליטן לאומנות (הרבה לפני שאנה וינטור הלכה על עקבים). במהלך הקריירה שלה בת 50 השנים, גילתה ורילנד דוגמניות כמו טוויגי, יעצה לג'קלין קנדי וחוללה מהפכה בעיתונות האופנה. לעומת זאת, "העין חייבת לנסוע" דווקא חודר מתחת לאגדה וחושף את ההיסטוריה האישית ונקודות התורפה של ורילנד. נתראה שם! ♥ הבויפרנד

Jean Charles de Castelbajac @ בית העיר

Last night The Boyfriend attended an intimate get together with the legendary French designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac at Tel Aviv's Beit HaIr Museum. The Moroccan-born designer, who lives and works in France and recently garnered press for dressing Lady Gaga in a Kermit the Frog dress, discussed his influences, world-view, artistic outlook and connection to Israel (one of his ancestors was a crusader in the middle ages. He himself is of French royal blood). The fascinating designer and crowd gathered amidst clothes from his "Fire on Ice" collection - which officially go on display tomorrow as part of Tel Aviv's "White Night" events. A truly inspiring and magical evening! ♥ The Boyfriend

אתמול בערב הבויפרנד הגיע למפגש אינטימי עם המעצב האגדי הצרפתי ז'אן שארל דה קאסטלבז'ק בבית העיר בתל אביב. יליד מרוקו שחי ועובד בצרפת ולאחרונה זכה בהרבה יחס תקשורתי עקב שמלת-בובות-קרמיט-הצפרדע שהוא עיצב עבור ליידי גאגא - קאסטלבז'ק דיבר על ההשראות שלו, השקפת העולם האמנותית שלו, ועל הקשר שלו לארץ הקודש (אחד מאבות משפחתו היה צלבן בימי הביניים. הוא בעצמו נושא דם מלכותי צרפתי). המעצב המהפנט והקהל הוקפו בבגדי קולקציית "אש על קרח" של קאסטלבז'ק שתוצג רשמית ממחר כחלק מאירועי "לילה לבן" בתל אביב. ערב קסום ומעורר השראה! ♥ הבויפרנד

The Stuff Words Are Made Of: הארץ + שנקר

The exhibition "The Stuff Words Are Made Of", a joint venture between Shenkar College of Engineering and Design and Haaretz newspaper, attempts to use newspaper as a design material and question the nature and purpose of the printed news, the paper on which it is printed, and the information it disseminates and leaves behind once it is long gone. These questions and this conceptual exhibition couldn't be more relevant than in the age of online media, when the newspaper and magazine industries must grapple with existential questions and plan their survival and/or Darwinian adaptations. The 120 works made by fourth year design students, ranging from clothing to accessories and home decor, were unveiled on March 2 are on display at the G Complex in northern Tel Aviv until March 14.

The exhibition is well curated and displayed, and the pieces themselves are shocking in their high level of execution, cleverness and surprising functionality. The Boyfriend took a look at the men's clothing on display and was very impressed. ♥ The Boyfriend

התערוכה "הדברים שמהם עשויות מילים" היא שיתוף פעולה מוצלח בין שנקר (בית ספר גבוה להנדסה ועיצוב) ועיתון הארץ אשר מנסה להשתמש בעיתונים כחומר גלם לעיצוב פריטים, תוך כדי שהיא עוסקת בשאלות על הטבע ומטרות הדפסי העיתונים, הנייר שעליו מדפיסים את הכתוב והמידע שהם מפיצים ומשאירים מאחוריהם. השאלות האלו והתערוכה עצמה הן רלוונטיות במיוחד בעידן המדיה האינטרנטית, כאשר עיתונים ומגזינים נאבקים בשאלות קיומיות ומנסים לשרטט את הישרדותם. 120 העבודות שנוצרו על-ידי תלמידי שנה רביעית לעיצוב, מגוונים מבגדים ואקססוריז ועד לפריטים לעיצוב הבית. התערוכה נפתחה 2.3 ותימשך עד ה 14.3 במתחם ג'י בצפון תל-אביב. התערוכה אוצרה והוצגה ברמה גבוהה והפריטים עצמם עוצרי נשימה מבחינת הביצוע, התחכום, והפונקציונאליות (המפתיעה) שלהם. הבויפרנד העיף מבט על בגדי הגברים המוצגים והתרשם מאוד לטובה. ♥ הבויפרנד

Holon Fashion Week 2011

Last week, the Holon Municipality and Design Museum Holon hosted the third Holon Fashion Week. The event comprised several days of Israeli premieres of fashion-related films, master classes and lectures from distinguished guests from abroad, including London stylist Alexandra McGuiness, architect Ron Arad, Imran Ahmed (founder of Business of Fashion website) and world-famous designer Zac Posen himself. The festivities began with an opening party on October 25th, which turned out to be a lavish ingathering of Israeli industry big-shots and the who's who of Tel Aviv. The night began with endless hors-d'oeuvres and champagne, continued with a few speeches, a fashion show (featuring the work of artist Liz Hajaj and designer Jonathan Zohar) and plenty of paparazzi, air-kisses and couture. It was simply fabulous!

בשבוע שעבר אירחה עיריית חולון את שבוע האופנה השלישי במוזיאון העיצוב חולון. במהלך ימות השבוע הופיעו וביקרו יוצרי, לובשי, מבקרי וצורכי אופנה לתצוגות, בכורות סרטים חדשים, כיתות אומן והרצאות של מומחים מהארץ ומחו"ל כולל הסטייליסטית הלונדונית אלכסנדרה מקגינס, האדריכל רון ארד, אימראן אחמד (מייסד האתר עסק של אופנה) ומעצב-העל המפורסם זאק פוזן בכבודו ובעצמו. האירוע נפתח באופן חגיגי ב25 באוקטובר עם מסיבה שופעת אנשי תעשייה מקומיים והמי ומי של תל-אביב. הלילה התחיל עם אינספור מנות ראשונות ושמפנייה, המשיך עם כמה נאומים, תצוגת אופנה (עבודותיהם של האומנית ליז' חג'ג' והמעצב יונתן זוהר) והמון פפראצי ואופנה עילית. היה פשוט נהדר
