The renowned Japanese avant-garde fashion designer, Yohji Yamamoto, shaped the 1980s as a master of modern shapes, exquisite tailoring and unconventional silhouettes. Around 80 creations of his are now on display at the Design Museum Holon, for the first time in Israel - as part of a series of site-specific exhibitions the designer has arranged around the world, and in honor of 60 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and Japan. "After exhibiting in London, Florence and Paris, it is a natural flow for me to organize an exhibition in Israel this time - a country very rich in culture," said Yamamoto in a press release. The exhibit was conceived by the designer, his collaborator Masao Nihei and museum curator Galit Gaon, and features mostly black pieces, from the 1970s onward, in three rooms with different conceptual layouts and moods.
