Milan Men's Fall/Winter 2014/2015: Dolce & Gabbana

For the past few seasons, Dolce & Gabbana's women's and men's collections have been a contemplation of the brand's Italian roots: inspired by Sicilian history, using a mix of models and "real" Sicilian men, and serving up a handsome dose of Sicilian nostalgia. While last year's women's fall/winter collection was thoroughly Byzantine, the men's fall/winter 2014/15 collection is inspired by Sicily's medieval Norman period, when the Moorish/Muslim-controlled island was conquered by Norman/Christian invaders. Thus, the Dolce & Gabbana "knights" walked the runway in printed and embellished pieces which were distinctly medieval but not kitschy or foolish at all. Fur, shearling and Romanesque embroidery proved that men's attire can be audacious and ornate yet still masculine and elegant. This is the epitome of a thematic collection! ♥ The Boyfriend
